Western Lesson

I come from a time when the cowboy in the white hat was always good – was always to be reckoned with.

There was no doubt that he would catch the bad guy.

He would always make the bad guys and those who had just strayed a little see the errors of their ways

They would always acknowledge their transgressions and be restored to the community or

They would serve their time in that old rickety jail

Never again to tarnish or harm those who were living their life the best way they knew how

The world today is different

Or is it?

The importance of taking to task those who have trampled on the rights of others

The importance of setting an example of kindness and caring

The importance of showing compassion in the midst of chaos

The importance of doing the right thing

Has it changed?

Or have the boundaries changed.

My mantra remains as it has all my adult life

Reinforced by the western cowboys of yesteryear

When in doubt –

Do what is right for your neighbor!!!

And who is your neighbor?

We are ALL neighbors!
